Recently, my weeks at work have been super busy so I haven’t been able to get out on time to make it to the gym. Instead, I’ve been making sure that I get some physical activity in over the weekend. On Sunday morning, my sister Katerina and I headed down to the Bay Run in Drummoyne for a run before venturing up to Rozelle to meet my friends Isi and Alessia for breakfast at Ungaro Raw, a new Vegan/Vegetarian Organic cafe that has opened up. Starving and in need of caffeine we got to ordering.
Katerina orders the Green Juice which is really refreshing and nicely chilled with some ice. I hate it when you’re served freshly squeezed juice that is warm.
The waitress makes us aware that they pretty much have every type of milk available so Alessia orders an Almond Milk Chai Latte.
I go for my standard Piccolo Latte.
Isi orders from the lunch menu which starts at 11.30am. This is the Veggie Lentil Burger served on Crusty Bread. The patty was so tasty and made up of not only lentils, but heaps of seeds to add more flavour and crunch.
Katerina and Alessia choose the Bircher Muesli with a twist of Lemon, Wild Figs and Blueberries, served with Fresh Seasonal Fruit and Coconut Yoghurt on the side. The yoghurt is every coconut lovers dream (made from coconut milk and nicknamed COYO in the clean eating world), and the addition of zesty lemon to the bircher gives it that kick of citrus flavour which works unexpectedly well in the creamy mixture.
I go for the Big Breakfast in my starving state which comes with Tomatoes, Avocado, Mushrooms, Spinach, Onion Rosti, Poached Eggs and Wholemeal Toast. Everything is cooked really well and I’m all smiles as I layer it onto the toast, soak it in egg yolk and dig in.
Being tempted by the dessert menu, we had to order the Raw Mint Slice to share. It’s made from natural, organic, ‘healthy’ ingredients with the bottom layer being a mixture of nuts and coconut, the middle a smooth minty custard cream and the top a decadent chocolate ganache that has a slight bitterness from the raw cacao used. I loved every bit of it, and am finally convinced to try one of these raw cake recipes that have been flooding instagram as of late. You can check out some of these recipes here and here.
Who said dessert couldn’t be healthy and yummy at the same time.

After breakfast we went for a stroll around Rozelle markets to browse the stalls and all of the knick knacks on sale. This is the perfect way to start a Sunday morning, and forget in the short term that Monday is just around the corner :) xxx
