Saturday morning took us across the bridge to Bronte for breakfast at the Three Blue Ducks. We arrived just after 10.30am (breakfast menu ends at 11.30am) with the cafe packed inside and out, and us hungry onlookers waiting on the curb for our table to be ready. We were seated inside and got to work by ordering that much needed morning espresso.
Piccolo Latte & Long Black.
All of the breakfast menu sounded so good with each of us contemplating what to order and trying to narrow down the options. The clear favourite between us was the Quinoa and Fig Bircher Muesli with Rhubarb, Fresh Fruit, Yoghurt and Toasted Nuts. I have attempted making quinoa bircher before and it tasted pretty bitter and horrible, I need to find out how they made this taste so yummy.
Another option was the Coddled Eggs with Chorizo, Capsicum and Cannellini Beans, served with Sourdough from Iggys (an extremely popular Bakery just next door). I had heard of, but didn’t know the process of coddling an egg so we asked the waiter. The egg is cooked in its shell by immersing it into near-boiling water or by boiling water and then pouring it over an egg and allowing it to sit for 10 minutes. You end up with a lightly cooked egg, with the egg white soft and the yolk oozing.
Instead of the traditional smoked salmon with breakfast, the Poached Eggs, Spinach, Sauce Hollandaise and King Salmon on Sourdough is a pleasant change.
Lastly, my menu pick is the Avocado with Poached Eggs, Herb Salad and Oven Roasted Tomatoes on Quinoa and Spelt Bread. The bread is gluten free and tastes like perfection with the avocado and tomato.
When Three Blue Ducks originally opened they were only situated in the premise on the left, but due to the high demand they bought the shop next door as well which led to this cool alleyway running through the middle of the cafe. The breakfast was tasty, the coffee strong and the wait staff friendly, definitely a good way to start the weekend off.

I’m sorry if this is your house…but I think it is ever so perfect and felt the need to share it with you all. I love terraces, especially ones that overlook the ocean.
Have a fantastic week everyone xxx
