We’ve just had one of the most fantastic weekends full of sunshine, there is nothing more uplifting then having the sun out in the middle of winter. To mix things up a little and get out of Sydney for the day, we headed off on a road trip towards Wollongong this morning. We drove through the national park and once on the Grand Pacific Drive we hit the Scarborough Hotel, perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I’ve been here once before and have been meaning to come back and enjoy one of the best Sunday afternoon hangouts. We were only an hour out of Sydney but it was the perfect city escape where only relaxation and sunshine troubled our minds (and a bit of work stuff for me).
Since there were five of us, we all met at Brighton Le Sands to jump into the one car. After being out the night before and having approximately four hours sleep a coffee at Bay Vista was in order.
Pedram also chooses some ice cream for breakfast….why not!!
Greek style ice coffee, Frappe xoris yala kai zaxari (no milk or sugar).
And off we go….
As soon as you come out of the windy roads from the National Park you hit the Grand Pacific Drive and come to the most perfect photo backdrop.
Alessia, Isabelle and I. Peace!

Sea Cliff Bridge.
We made it :)
The perfect lunch spot, the Sea Cliff Garden.
Generally it is best to book a table to ensure you have somewhere to sit but since we got to the hotel at 2.30pm some people were leaving and we were lucky enough to grab a table and umbrella.
Time for some ciders and lunch for the parched and hungry troupe.
Isi and Chris go for the golden Fried Fish and Chips served with Lemon and Citrus Aioli.
I tuck into a bowl of the Spicy Salt and Pepper Squid with Lemon, Roquette Salad and Aioli.
Alessia orders the Cold Seafood plate filled with Prawns, Natural Oysters, Smoked Salmon and a Leaf Salad with Citrus Aioli.
…and Pedram has the Scotch Fillet, 300g of Angus Beef with Mushroom Sauce, Chips and Salad.
The food is reasonably priced, fresh and tasty. There is also a restaurant/cafe like section upstairs in the hotel on the balcony but the garden is my preferred hangout as you can sit and enjoy the suns rays.

The venue is a popular spot for bike riders so I snap some shots of the ones parked outside. Although I hate the loud sound of a Harley Davidson they really are a beautiful thing.
Car problems…that would suck if you’re heading back to Sydney.
After a beautiful day, we venture off in to the sunset back home. Next time the weather is this good, I recommend The Scarborough Hotel as the perfect day out.
Hope you all had a good weekend xxx
