Last weekend, the girls and I ventured to Pearl Beach to get away from Sydney life for a little. Ana had won a two night stay at this beautiful holiday house, so we bundled up our overnight bags and drove up the coast. Pearl Beach is right near Woy Woy, and with good traffic you can make it there within an hour and a half. We spent our whole stay planning, buying, preparing, eating and cleaning up from our cooking adventures. I am lucky enough to be surrounded with friends that love food just as much as I do. Some of the highlights were definitely the spicy tomato and red wine mussels and the grilled octopus. We had visited the local fishing co-op and got some of the freshest seafood in the area. It was the perfect food to be cooking in an amazing kitchen (it had a commercial oven, hot plate and walk in cool-room), with the best company. So this post kind of follows on from that scenario. On the Sunday, we headed off from Pearl Beach reasonably early and visited Replay Espresso in Turramurra for brunch, which is a reasonably new cafe adding a slice of coolness (& good coffee) to the area.
Don’t get on my bad side before my Piccolo or I wont be happy!
The Acai Bowl is a healthy option for the morning, served with sliced banana and some home-made muesli.
Another healthy option is the Brown Rice and Quinoa Bircher served with some Yoghurt and Berries, which Alessia asked for on the side. I love a good Bircher, but I was up for a savoury option and couldn’t forgo the…….
…Grilled Haloumi & Smashed Avocado on Seeded Bread with Basil Pesto and Semi-Roast Tomatoes & Eggs. This is what I call, a great way to start the day. The only issue was trying to eat it on the small board. Trying to balance egg yolk, avocado, tomatoes and crispy bread all at once was no easy feat. I fine tuned my skills though and managed to eat it all…standard!
Isi decided on a Toasted Chicken Sandwich, which look delightfully crunchy. I have never been a big sandwich eater for breakfast, but I think I might have to give it a go sometime.
The cafe isn’t huge, but there are a decent amount of tables inside, and a few out the front. I can’t say that I am in this area often, but at least now, I have a venue for a quick pop-in caffeine hit or tasty breakfast/brunch/lunch option.
