Here I am with another post that shows off how amazing our winter has been in Sydney this year. I’m pretty sure 21 degree days that are full of sunshine can not really be claimed as ‘winter’ in most parts of the world. Last weekend I met up with some of my lovely friends from uni in Manly. When the sun is shining, get yo ass outside! I hadn’t been down to Manly beach during the day in a long time, but our visit made me remember how much I love it and how beautiful it is. Our chosen lunch spot was Manly Wine situated at South Steyne, right across from the beach.
I claim that we had one of the best seats in the house.
The interior is beautiful and lavishly decorated with random ornaments such as pink flamingos, hanging flower pots, wall prints, chandeliers and random knick knacks that would look odd by themselves but somehow come together nicely when thrown together with everything else. This place, along with The Boathouse at Balmoral Beach have to be some of my favourite cafe/restaurant interiors.
We sit around talking and slowly get around to making our lunch order. The weekend menu is split into a lot of share plates (I’ve tried a lot of this menu previously at The Winery in Surry Hills which is owned by the same group), main size meals and sweets. There is plenty of variety and choice and we each ponder over what to order. This is such a crucial decision, and sometimes the biggest choice I have to make in a day :P I hate the unsatisfied feeling of ordering an item that doesn’t quite cut it. Fortunately we were all very happy with our picks.
Food envy occurs when the plate of Chili Salt Squid comes out, seafood is always the perfect choice when sitting along the beach.
This salad can only be described as ‘so fresh and so clean’. I’m not sure if the greens look remarkably vibrant due to the plate they are sitting on but I just love how the colour jumps out at you, it makes me feel brighter just by looking at it. Pea and Feta Salad with Candied Macadamias, Mint and a Chardonnay Dressing.
I opt for the Warm Salad of Roast Beetroot, Walnuts, Baby Carrots and Feta. The dish is so beautifully presented that I almost don’t want to touch it…Of course my hunger takes over and I dig in.
The Cheeseburger in all its beautiful glory served with a very cute bucket of fries.

Looks just like summer…
…until you see that we’re not wearing sun dresses and bikinis!
Happy Friday everyone :) Hope these photos put a smile on your dile. The weatherman forecasts sun all weekend so get out there and enjoy it. I plan on having a semi quiet weekend again. Some drinks tonight, a run and breakfast tomorrow morning and maybe even a trip to Cockatoo Island for the Underbelly Arts Festival on Sunday.
Have a lovely weekend xxx
