Tonight I have a quick little foodie post to tantalise your tastebuds and get you excited for the Easter Feaster this weekend. A few Sunday’s back, the boy and I visited Jamie’s for Sunday lunch, Italian style. This is my third time eating here and fortunately I had my camera on me to finally capture the food and experience. Jamie’s is one of those places that is always packed out any day of the week. We popped our name down and headed upstairs to sit at the outdoor stools whilst we waited for a table.
Of course we needed something to tide us over whilst we waited…two Aperol Spritz please…
….and some crispy Polenta Chips with Rosemary and Parmesan of course, to curb the appetite.
With a shrill of excitement our buzzer vibrates on the table 45 minutes later. We are seated on the upper dining level and soon after the bread basket appears with a mixture of Rosemary Focaccia, Grissini, Artisan Sourdough and Carta di Musica (flatbread) served with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Aged Balsamic.
For the mains we keep it light and simple as we have a dinner on later that night. The entree size of the Lamb & Ricotta Tortellini is made up of delicate pasta parcels filled with braised lamb, creamy ricotta, lemon, mint, and crunch herb breadcrumbs. The sauce is amazing, and we polish of the remaining bread by dipping it in and soaking up the goodness. Another great thing about Jamie’s is that the prices are so reasonable, you wouldn’t think you were eating in a restaurant of one of the most famous chefs in the world. The entree size of this pasta is only $14.50, with the main size $26.00.
I order my favourite dish, the Prosciutto, Pear & Pecorino Salad. An assortment of leaves, rocket and pine nuts are added into the mix and the whole thing is dressed in some olive oil and balsamic dressing. The salty and soft prosciutto works wonders alongside the crisp and fresh salad mixture. Considering the huge size and amount of prosciutto served on the plate, this salad at $19.50 is worth every penny.
So there we have it, a lightish lunch at Jamie’s Italian in the Sydney’s CBD. I am never disappointed after my visits here and would be more then happy to stop in, whenever I’m feeling like an affordable and tasty Italian meal. I did notice that you can now book a table on their website which is recommended so you can bypass the wait and get straight into the eating.
