High Tea at Abode Bistro - ParkRoyal Hotel Darling Harbour - My Kiki Cake - Sydney Food & Travel Blog (3 of 16)

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the launch of High Tea at Abode Bistro in the Park Royal Hotel at Darling Harbour. (I’ve previously visited Abode for lunch. Take a look here). The afternoon was hosted by Peter Kuruvita, the world renowned chef and Dilmah Tea ambassador. He explained the history of the Dilmah brand and how the company started to where they are today. He shared how they pick and process their black and green teas (did you know that both types of tea come from the same plant, they are just treated differently post picking) , and how the Dilmah brand have pioneered the concept of tea which is picked, packed and perfected at the origin, a single origin tea. We were spoiled with an assortment of savoury and sweets, to compliment the teas being served. My favourite from the day was the Flowers Rose with French Vanilla, nice and light and perfect with the sweets.

The menu for the high tea and what is on offer at Abode every Friday, Saturday and Sunday:

Sandwiches: Earl grey poached chicken with herb aioli

King prawn with lemon & dill aioli Finger roll of I’artisan triple brie

Smoked ham, dijion mustard & olive powder

Savoury Bites: Ceylon dusted crab and avocado salad in baby gem lettuce cups

Duck rillette pots infused with lively lime & orange tea with parmesan crostini

Slow braised lamb shoulder pie infused with rosemary & peppermint tea with mashed peas

Sweet bites: Lemon, pistachio & almond macaroons

Petite apple mille feuille, rose & Chantilly vanilla cream

ABODE’S opera slice

White chocolate & spiced chai fudge

Bitter chocolate mousse pots, sable` & hazelnut crumbs

Eton mess with blueberry & pomegranate jelly

Lets just say that we literally rolled out of the door. The food was incredible, and definitely beat any other high tea that I have taken part in. It was modern, fresh, flavoursome and beautifully presented on Villeroy & Boch stands, with the tea also served in their beautiful cups & saucers as well.

Thank you for having me Abode, it was a lovely afternoon and I’ll surely be back for that Duck Rilette and Bitter Chocolate Mousse xxx
