I have a problem…I can no longer sleep in. No matter how tired I am or what ridiculous hour I go to sleep, I always wake up with the birds #firstworldproblems. The only benefit is that I can fit more into my day. This morning, I made myself a coffee and thought that a blog post was in order. I need to get through all of the ones in my backlog prior to jet setting. Today I share Hardware Societe in the Melbourne CBD which we ventured to for brunch one morning. The remaining posts in my backlog: Melbourne: Dukes, Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder, Victoria Street Market, MoVida. Sydney: Bills, China Doll & Dinner En Blanc. I eat too much! :)
We made a smart choice and headed to Hardware on the Friday morning and although busy, it only took a few minutes before a table left and we were seated. If you’re heading there on the weekend you will most likely have to wait a little longer.
The cutest tea cup and tea cosy.
The morning was cold and wet, but you instantly felt at home inside the cafe as it is small, chaotic, homely and warm.
I’m a little teapot….
Now for the food. I went with the Scrambled Eggs and Asparagus with Smoked Salmon on Toast with Horseradish Creme Fraiche. I loved everything about it and enjoy the fact that you can eat it all together or separately. It was two breakfasts in one, who could complain with that.
Alessia was on the hunt for the best Bircher Muesli in Melbourne, with the above seasonal version with strawberries and macadamias being a serious contender.
Aimee chooses my number two dish and I thank her for providing me with the photo opportunity. Baked Eggs with Chorizo Sausage, Cherry Tomatoes, Thyme Salsa, Almonds and Queso de Cabra Goats Milk Cheese. Perfectly warming dish on a chilly Melbourne morning.
Served with a side of Sourdough to dip into the eggy goodness.
We loved it all and left ready for a day of running away from the rain and shopping for pieces we obviously didn’t need but felt we deserved :).
