My countdown to the long weekend is in full swing. Lucky me gets a half day on Friday as well, thank you very much work! I’m also counting down to my six day Melbourne trip at the end of this month with my friends, and then I’m going to my one true love…EUROPE in December. So so very excited and can’t wait to blog all of my foodie adventures again. This trip will consist of Roma, Athena, Patras and Paris. It’s a travel packed end of year…just the way I like it.
Today I have a quick photo post of my first time visit to Eveleigh Markets in Darlington (right near Redfern and in the same vicinity as Carriage Works). These markets are held every Saturday from 8am to 1pm and consist of food producers who set up shop for the day and sell fresh seasonal produce as well as market stall food to buy and eat. I met up with my two friends from uni, Zora and Haidi and we walked around choosing what to buy from the market stalls and sampling a whole lot of food products as well. I get overwhelmed in these situations and end up buying a lot more stuff then I probably should have.
Butter & Bread…the simple pleasures in life.
Grilled Toast with Truffle Scrambled Eggs.
We may have started eating this before the photo was taken. Kylie Kwong has a stall at the markets (Billy Kwong) so we had to order the Steamed Pork Bun with Homemade Chilli. The pork filling inside tasted so good and the light fluffy bun on the exterior was nice as it wasn’t as sweet as the ones you find at Yum Cha.
Oh hey there Kylie!!
Not wanting to miss out, we also order the Omelette Pancake filled with Bean Sprouts, Carrots, Coriander, and Mint with a Tangy Hoi Sin/Soy Sauce. It goes down a treat, and reminds me of one big mama peking duck pancake, minus the duck.
We also grab a Gourmet Hamburger with Salad which is not as adventurous as our other choices, but still hits the spot in flavour, especially the herb filled burger patty.
Haidi my food loving partner in crime & I. Haidi has just started a food blog which you can check out here coconlime.com =D.
My mum loves nougat so I had to buy her a box of these. On the left was apricot, in the middle was fig and pistachio and the right was chocolate and orange. Most definitely try these, you can thank me later at how amazing they taste.
