Good Afternoon to all. I have just spent my day at The Grounds in Alexandria for lunch with my mumma, sister, aunty and cousin. The venue is perfect on a beautiful day like today…I could go on about how lovely it was but I will save that for the blog post. Today I share with you these photos from last weekend, my two lovely friends and I met up for breakfast at the very busy Bread & Circus, a wholefoods canteen in Alexandria. The menu is organically and locally sourced and changes daily depending on what food is in season at the moment. I’m very into this whole superfood, clean eating, local produce craze that has taken over Sydney so I was looking forward to our visit.

The venue is in a converted warehouse with Bread & Circus taking up one corner, Don Campos coffee taking up another section, and then Cipro Pizza Al Taglio (another must visit place on my Bucket List) is further down the building on the corner.

I also order a green juice after my caffeine shot. This is a small glass of the Something Green filled with Kale, Spinach, Cucumber, Celery, Lemon and Apple.

The airy and light surroundings of the canteen match the healthy inspired menu which is full of your normal breakfast items mixed in with ingredients that sound like they would be good for the body & soul. You almost feel healthier just sitting there reading it. Take the Foxy Winter Porridge filled with Stewed Fruits, Honey-Thyme Walnuts and Coconut Sugar and BAM you’re set up contently to get through the rest of the day.

Looking around at the diners beside us, a popular breakfast choice is the Parmesan not-so Scrambled Eggs – Biodynamic Eggs with either Bullet Chilli or Real Truffle Oil, under Parmesan with Avocado, Tomato, Baby Spinach, Fresh Herbs and Sourdough. Full of flavour your tastebuds will certainly be wide awake after this.

As mentioned I am very into trying all of the new superfoods. I’ll admit, I definitely do not limit myself to only clean and healthy foods..Heck! I have a food blog to maintain and there is only so much food porn that can come from healthy foods. Everyone loves a little bit of naughtiness at times like a delectable plate of pasta, mozzarella covered pizza or chocolate filled dessert. In the end it all comes down to moderation, I eat healthily during the week so that I can enjoy myself when venturing out for breakfast/lunch/dinner on the weekends. Quinoa is a superfood which I have grown to love and is a popular item in my lunchbox for work, not having cooked it many ways I thought I should try the Breakfast with Gwyneth. The plate is filled with Sautéed White Quinoa, Chilli Kale and a Boiled Biodynamic Egg. I loved the flavours and have now been inspired to start experimenting more with my quinoa. To kick start, I want to attempt making a healthier alternative to my Coconut Rice with quinoa. I’ll post the recipe if it turns out well :).

Content and full we headed off into the sunshine to continue on with our days. Definitely add this place to your list if you like to try clean and healthy foods or want the perfect breakfast location for vegetarian meals. Next time I want to visit for lunch, I’ve heard they have a great selection of salads.
