Did someone say steak?
This all time beauty…the Fiorentina, can be found at one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney; Fratelli Paradiso. The first time I ordered one of these was in Florence. It almost feels magical to say that. Similar to saying, the first time I ate a croissant was in Paris. That would be true magic.
Anyways..back to the steak. The Fiorentina is a large T-bone. At Fratelli, it’s 1kg in weight and designed for two people. One of these babies and a few sides, and we were in business. When we ordered this in Florence, we got one each. Major fail. Two girls with nearly two kilos of meat.
Like in Italy, a bowl of crunchy Bread makes it way to the table after we order our meal. Sea Salt and Olive Oil being the perfect accompaniments. The bread is baked at the small bakery that sits alongside the restaurant. The Bakery do a fantastic pizza by the slice, croissants and Italian donuts filled with jam. Check out my post here of brunch at Fratelli Paradiso.
Sliced off the bone, there is plenty of meat to fill us both up. I am generally not a big red meat eater, I prefer to stick to seafood. But…when a steak is flavoursome and cooked to perfection (and not chewy), then I enjoy it a lot more. This one obviously lacked neither of these things.
Side dish of Sautéed Green Beans with Almonds.
A fantastic meal, at the always fantastic Fratelli Paradiso. If meat is not your thing, then I can more then happily suggest the Ragu, Lasagnetta, Fried Squid, and Tiramisu.
Bon Appetit! xxx
