Hello Everyone :) Happy Wednesday, the weekend will be with us soon again. When I started writing this post on the weekend I was sitting in the sun and thought it was a perfect time to be blogging Santorini. Now it is cold and wet whilst I finish this post off, and it is making me miss my European adventures even more so. Santorini to me is the Greek island of LOVE/Sunsets/Weddings/Honeymoons/Party time!! It really does cater to a lot of different tourists. We stayed in Fira which is the main town at a place called Hotel Kavalari which overlooks the caldera and welcomed us with amazing views every morning. This was our second time to Santorini so we didn’t do all the touristy things again such as the beautiful Oia sunset, or taking a cruise around the island. Instead we spent all our days at Perivolos beach at JoJo’s beach bar, the night would consist of walking through town, grabbing dinner, going home to get ready hit up a bar and then make our way to Koo Club to party the night away. Although there are many couples and honeymooners, the island has plenty of party choices for those still wild at heart.
View from the top of the hotel looking down into the ocean. Could easily get used to waking up to this every morning.
Our room at the hotel included breakfast which was served on the balcony. We were treated to a feast and would then make our way to the beach for a day full of sun, pebbles, frappes and Carroten (Greek tanning oil with carrot extract, be warned extreme usage does cause a slightly orange tinge I found).
Pot of coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, fruit salad, thick and creamy Greek yoghurt, bread basket and condiments.
Dionysos in Atlantis – Fira Town
Dionysos is a pleasant family style restaurant which can be found off the little streets in Fira Town.
Greek salad with..tomato, cucumber, fetta, spring onion, caper leaves and capers. Each island in Greece has there own twist on certain foods with capers being more prominent in Santorini since they are grown on the island.
Na Na Na Na Na get tzatziki with it…
Ana and I shared the grilled seafood plate consisting of whole fish, calamari and prawns. The tzatziki was the best accompaniment with this dish as the freshness of the yoghurt breaks down the strong flavour from the grill.

Sunset over Fira..
Obelix is known as one of the best places to grab a Gyros in Fira town. They actually had the same shop in Lefkada as well so I’m assuming the same family may own it.
Best 2.50 euro I spent that day. The meat is not too oily like some of the kebabs you find in Sydney, so you don’t feel sickly full afterwards.
Ana having her picture perfect post card photo….the one touristy thing you must do when visiting.
My turn for a photo in the entrance way to our hotel.
Loukoumadoupolis….if your feeling like some Greek sweets Loukmades are an all time favourite of mine and this shop in Fira Town sells them with a variety of toppings.
I guess the best way to describe a Loukmada is to compare it to a doughnut, the dough is deep fried to get a crunchy exterior with the inside remaining light a fluffy. They are then covered in a honey syrup and cinnamon.
On our last afternoon on the island we were feeling hungry so we visited a Greek bakery to get some biscuits before our ferry to Crete. Typically you can find these styles of bakeries throughout Greece, where you help yourself and then pay in regards to the weight of what you picked.
Too many choices…
My choice – a mixture of savoury biscuits to enjoy. Some of these had cheese on top, one of the sticks had a whole lot of seeds inside, then the round biscuits were either olive, cheese or pumpkin flavoured.
Santorini on Instagram
The pebbles at the beach in Santorini are black due to the Volcanic eruption. This is a form of me passing the time and keeping myself occupied at the beach.
We found ourselves some cans of Rekorderlig which are perfect on a Summer’s day, this ‘new’ flavour was not the best though.
Another cliff side background shot….that water looks very inviting!
Sunset shot with a filter. Bliss!!
There we have it…another beautiful Greek Island to show off in photos. I have to admit that the European summer is 10x better then the one we are having in Sydney atm. My next post will be on Crete.
