Ciao Ciao Amici! Spero che stiate tutti bene.
The beautiful Positano was our last Italian destination on our Euro trip. Situated on the Amalfi Coast, its cliff side enclave leads down to the pristine waters below. We spent 3 days here and were lucky enough to have an apartment right on the cliff, with the most surreal view from our balcony. Overall the town is extremely tourist friendly and doesn’t have an authentic cultural feel like Ischia and Napoli, its beauty is spectacular, but overall it feels like a slightly large tourist resort for the masses. In hindsight it would have been better to stay in Capri and do a day trip to Positano. All things aside, like every place I have been to in Italy you cant go wrong with the food and Positano delivered.
Looking from the beach up to the Positano cliff side. It was great exercise walking up and down the hill every day.
For breakfast we were cutting up some fresh nectarines, peaches and figs which we bought from the deli on top of our apartment. Healthy way to start the morning.
I added some muesli and yoghurt to my fruit…
Isi bought a panini from the deli….perfect amounts of crunchy bread, prosciutto, olive oil, red ripe tomatoes and basil.
This is the view of the cliff face from the balcony in our apartment. I miss waking up to this.
Enjoying a day at the beach…Dorian and Nick, our friends from Sydney came and visited us for the day since they were also travelling through the Amalfi coast. That night we decided to have dinner in the apartment and headed to the deli on the way home to buy some antipasti.
Quite possibly the best olive oil dipping bread.
Fresh mozzarella, basil and ruby red tomatoes…I think we now know how the Italians chose the colours for their flag.
Sicilian olives….not too salty, firm and full of flavour.
Prosciutto for the masses…I could live off food like this.
Spicy salami, perfect to eat with just some bread and olive oil.
We were lucky enough to witness fireworks over the cliff one night…picture perfect!
Sunset picture down at the beach whilst we had some drinks.
Le Tre Sorelle Ristorante – Via del Brigantino
On our last night in Positano, we chose to visit the Seafood restaurant Le Tre Sorelle which is on the main strip of restaurants which line the beach. Nothing makes you want to eat seafood more then living right on the ocean, with this restaurant being the perfect choice for fresh seafood, Italian style.
Instead of the usual European restaurant tradition of a basket of bread turning up to our table, we each received a love heart panini drizzled in olive oil, herbs and basil.
We chose a few starters to share, tonno (tuna) salad with mozzarella.
Marinated white anchovies.
Grilled mozzarella cheese..so tasty with the basil leaf infusing into the cheese.
We all ordered our own mains with Jes making a fine choice and ordering a mixed grill plate with prawns, octopus, squid, scampi and fish.
Isabelle ordered a piece of white fish poached with tomatoes.
Ana and I decided to share a fish which we picked out from the display. We had it served in a lemon sauce with vegetables.
To finish off we grabbed two desserts to share between us. It’s always nice to finish with some chocolate so we decided on the flour less cake with its moist chocolatey innards and slightly crunchy outer layer.
Creme caramel was the second option with none of us disappointed. The firm custard went so well with the slightly burnt tasting caramel. Perfect way to end the meal.

Farewell shot to finish off this post…going to miss this beautiful view.
FYI :D I have just arrived home from my European adventures…it is actually crazy how fast the four months went. I have had the greatest time and been able to see some amazing places and eat even better food. Now that I have decent internet at home and a bit of time on my hands whilst I search for a job, I will be sure to keep posting.
Happy eating xxx
