What goes best with a walk around Piazza Navona in Rome?
Pizza of course. And not just any Pizza, we’re talking Pizza al Taglio from the famous Bonci Pizzarium. Both Piazza Navona and Bonci can be treated as tourist attractions that I personally think you can not miss! Piazza Navona with its beautiful carousel, Italian men drawing caricatures and painting beautiful landscapes, theme park like games and gimmicky food, all set in a beautiful and historic piazza – its purely odd, but you have to take a trip for the architecture alone, just leave behind all the tourist traps.
Bonci on the other hand is chaos of a different kind. Think of a tiny shop selling slabs of pizza done on thick focaccia like bases, with inventive & purely brilliant toppings like broccoli, potato & pancetta or ricotta, spinach and anchovies. Get in line, pick as many types as you can possible eat, add a croquette for good measure and then park yourself on the street outside for a purely magical pizza experience in a grimy Roman street.
