Bonjour again and welcome to part two of my four day stay in Paris. If you skipped part one you can find it here. This blog is primarily made up of photos that were snapped here and there around the city and a few shots of food. We were blessed with beautiful weather since we were visiting at the beginning of August…
Walking around and not minding if we got lost we came across this long stretch of park in front of yet another beautiful building.
We also found ourselves walking past the École Militaire which is the military school on the Champs de Mars which faces the Eiffel Tower.
Picnic at the Eiffel Tower
A trip to Paris isn’t complete in the summer without a picnic under the Eiffel Tower. We ventured to our local supermarket to pick up some food and wine followed by a pit stop at the Fromagerie to buy some cheese.
Our three cheese choices consisted of Camembert, a goats milk Chevre and a hard Blue cheese.
Spicy salami to have with our baguette and crackers.
A bit of prosciutto to also accompany our cheeses.
Spicy green olives.
The girls sitting on our makeshift (airplane blanket) picnic rugs.
This is a behind us shot of our picnic position. As you can see there are plenty of people about, enjoying the dusk and sunset like us.
This is the view we got to enjoy in front of us. The Eiffel Tower in all its glory during it’s nightly light show. During the summer, the lights on the tower go off every hour after sunset until 2 am.
Pierre Hermé – Rue Bonaparte
Pierre Herme…..the Louis Vuitton of the sweet world. We visited one morning to indulge in some more French pastries.
The line was out the door when we arrived, and we slowly peered at all the delectable sweets in their glass cabinets. Decisions Decisions!!!!
These are the individual tarts, perfect for one. Most of these also come in the larger size for when you feel like sharing with others, or being a major fatty.
Happy with my purchase, we decided to head to a little park around the corner to indulge.
The girls with their purchases as well….Isi seems a little jealous at something Ana has purchased.
First off I chose the salted caramel macaron….of course!! Soo soo delightful and so so sweet which is broken down by the hint of saltiness.
I chose the Tarte Peche, Rose and Cumin. The base was a crisp pastry filled with a rose cream and topped with the peaches that had a sugary toffee like layer flavoured with the cumin. Divine!
Ana chose the Tarte Infiniment Vanille. The base is a sweet pastry which is then filled with a vanilla custard and vanilla mascarpone cheese and then coated in an outer layer of vanilla ganache. Vanilla lovers dream come true!
Jes chose the Montebello which is made from a biscuit dacquoise base, filled with a pistachio creme and then topped with raspberries.
Last but certainly not least was Isis choice the 2000 Feuilles, which is like a millefeuille x 2000. This beauty is made up of caramelised puff pastry, layers of praline and then praline cream.

Fat Tire Night Bike Tour around Paris
A good way to see the city is to do one of the Fat Tire bike tours. We chose the night tour which went for four hours and included a boat ride up the River Seine. Below are a collection of photos I took whilst cycling around the city.
We crossed over the Pont Des Arts bridge as the sun was setting and I captured this shot which has to be one of my favourite for the trip. The bridge is covered in padlocks that mark the names of couples..how romantic!
I sneakily captured this shot of a random couple, I assume they may have just placed a padlock on the bridge.
Shaky shot of the Eiffel Tower in the distance.
Boat cruise down the River Seine, amazing to see Paris at night from a different angle.
Notre Dame at night looking rather haunted against the dark lighting.

A picnic under the Eiffel Tower…how perfect. I’m going to do that for sure when we’re there in September…and I love the idea of a bike tour.
Picnic is a must
and the weather in September is perfect to do so.
The cheese and meats picnic is awesome! however, I don’t see a baguette… how can you not have a baguette?? It’s France!
